Although tourism is not among the strongest points of Austin, the city has some sites that are really worth seeing. To start off, Austin has some museums that are really visiting. The Texas National Museum, the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, and the Blantom Museum of Art are all in Austin. There are also art galleries in the Harry Ransom Center.

Would you believe that even the very state capitol of Texas is one of the places keeping the tourism in Austin alive. Then, there is also the Driskill Hotel, a site worth seeing since it had been standing since 1886. Six Street is another popular tourist destination in Austin. Most of the times, it is a place where people can enjoy great music. This same venue also hosts annual celebrations, like Halloween night and an annual festival in Austin, called Pecan Street Festival.

To add up to these attractions, tourism in Austin is also boosted by the presence of bats in the city, not in the caves, but under a bridge. Every year, over a hundred thousand viewers, locals and tourists alike, show up to see the bats as they emerge from the Congress Avenue Bridge. A total of more than one and a half million bath reside under the bridge starting the end of February. Tourists usually enjoy the great view of these bats coming out around sunset to find food for them and their young. This goes on until Winter, when the bats migrate to Mexico.

Aside from these bats, Austin is also houses the Austin Zoo, where rescued animals are given shelter. This is a great place to visit for animal lovers. As you can see, Austin is not far behind as opposed to other cities when it comes to tourism. People only need to see beyond the being commercial of the city to appreciate the tourist attractions Austin has to offer.
